Session Description

Molecular allergy component testing is gaining increasing use in the diagnosis of specific proteins responsible for an individual's allergic response. This session will review our current knowledge of the role this specific testing plays in the diagnosis and management of allergies.

Session Objectives

After attending this activity, attendees will be able to:

1. To define and distinguish whole allergen testing from molecular allergy component testing

2. To demonstrate the advantages of molecular allergy component testing in diagnosing and treating allergy mediated disease

3. To help the practitioner develop protocols for incorporating these tests into their allergy evaluation
