Session Description
We will introduce the concept of Functional Medicine and its existence in the greater category of alternative and/or integrative medicine. We will discuss the application of functional medicine principles to the etiology of chronic otolaryngologic disease (with an emphasis on rhinology). Additionally, recommendations for treatment, including phytoceuticals, supplements and lifestyle modifications, will be provided.
Session Objectives
After attending this activity, attendees will be able to:
1. Define Functional Medicine and its approach to root causes of disease
2. Describe chronic otolaryngologic diseases in the context of etiologic factors such as diet, lifestyle, and nutritional deficiencies
3. Recommend treatments including meditation, vitamin/nutrient supplements, and phytoceuticals to address such conditions
