Etiology and Diagnosis of Head and Neck Cancer

Session Description

This is an introductory course for students entering the clinical management of head and neck tumors. Risk factors for mucosal based malignancies will be presented. Clinical presentations of the tonsil, base of tongue, oral tongue, hypo pharynx and larynx malignancies will be discussed. This session target audiences include medical students, residents, and APP( PA, ARNP) beginning to clinically manage head and neck cancer.

Session Objectives

After attending this activity, attendees will be able to:

1. Discuss head and neck tumor risk factors and clinical presentations. 2. Understand the various characteristics of suspicious neck mass. 3. Understand the advantages and disadvantages of the many options in the initial evaluation of this patient.
