Recent developments in hearing technology and delivery models have created new sources of competition for providers. When there is little to no difference between the hearing aid devices or technologies in a medical practice and those offered for far less in a Big Box store or online, what is there to distinguish medical practices? While the battle may feel unwinnable, audiology-in-ENT practices are actually in an enviable position in the marketplace due to their focus on the effective treatment of hearing impairment and access to both established patients and a steady stream of new candidates seeking expert opinions and solutions to their everyday challenges. In this session, the changing marketplace, legislation and technology will be discussed, and a vision for sustainable growth and development will be presented specifically for the ENT-based audiology market.
After attending this activity, attendees will be able to:
1. Describe three key challenges facing the traditional hearing aid dispensing practice. 2. List two key advantages enjoyed by ENT practices that dispense hearing devices.
